Ingredients

  • 3 medium ripe avocados
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/2 jalapeño pepper, minced (more or less, to taste)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro leaves and upper stems (optional)
  • Pinch or two of coarse salt
  • Juice of one lime

Steps

  1. Cut avocados in half and remove the pits (do not throw out yet!). A ripe avocado should be easy to cut through. It is not worth it to make guacamole with unripe avocados!
  2. Spoon the flesh of the avocado into a mixing bowl. 
  3. Add the chopped onion, peppers, cilantro (if using), and salt. 
  4. Add lime juice. 
  5. Mush it all together. 
  6. Serves 4-6. If you want to store some- refrigerate in a container with the pits (obviously remove before eating)
