Ingredients:
- 1 bunch asparagus spears
- 3 tablespoons olive oil (or other cooking oil)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
Steps:
- Remove the woody ends from the asparagus. You can do this by grabbing a stalk of asparagus at either end and bend until it snaps. It will naturally snap where it starts to get tough.
- Arrange a rack in the middle of the oven and heat to 425°F.
- Place the asparagus into a mixing bowl, and drizzle with the olive oil. Toss to coat the spears, garlic (if using), salt, and pepper. Arrange the asparagus onto a baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven until just tender, 12 to 15 minutes depending on thickness.
- Sprinkle with lemon juice (if using) just before serving.
